01、Deep Forest(法国)

Deep Forest is a renowned band in the genre of world music. As early as the 1990s, the members of Deep Forest (Black Forest) have devoted themselves to collecting the voices of local aboriginal people, incorporating modern electronic keyboard instruments, complemented by intense dance and pop beats. Their debut album, released in 1993, was nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best World Music category, and won the award three years later for their album Boheme. Combined with world music, electronic music, and elements of a new century, their music has brought to light the voices of nations from all over the world. Deep Forest is currently a one-person band comprising Eric Mouquet, who continues to penetrate the globe, releasing albums such as Deep Brasil, Deep India, and Made in Japan. Record sales of more than 3.5 million albums serves as proof of the band’s status as a renowned representative of world music.

02、Maarja Nuut&Ruum(爱沙尼亚)

Estonian duo Maarja Nuut and Ruum operate within a musical inter-zone, connecting the deep-rooted, intuitive worldview of times past with the hyper-mediated realities and seemingly limitless technological possibilities of the present and future. Singer and violinist Maarja Nuut is an utterly compelling, often hypnotic performer. Her unique sound and vision, one that readily crosses genre borders, can be observed as agents of change within the wider category of folk, world, and related classical musical scenes. Perhaps her most formative musical moment was when she discovered the archival recordings of pre-Soviet Estonian village music. This ‘village style’ – and her persistent experiments with live looping – lies at the heart of Maarja Nuut's music: an almost modal sound with small, repeating patterns that allow for variations, and where different accents on motifs allow her to express her individual style. Maarja's debut as a solo artist was in 2013, with the self-released (and aptly-named) Soolo (Solo). Since 2016, Maarja has toured as a solo performer throughout Europe and North America. Her collaborator, Ruum, began making electronic music at the age of 15. His expertise in creating soundscapes was forged in Tallinn's avant-garde theatre NO99, where he worked as a sound engineer and designer. In addition to his own solo performances and sound installations, Ruum has written music for more than 30 theatre shows in the past decade.

03、Lo’Jo(法国)

To describe the music played by Lo’Jo, one would have to delve both into a dictionary of the world’s rhythms and an encyclopedia of universal harmonies. One would borrow from them adjectives like “shamanic”, “polyglot”, and wander from savannas to deserts, from rivers to oceans. Denis Pean, Lo’Jo’s visionary founder, is a poet philosopher in the finest French tradition. He formed Lo’Jo, a band of musicians, artists and actors, a while ago, and they have developed into one of France’s great musical families. They were instrumental in the first Festival in the Desert in Mali in 2001, and it was Lo’Jo who first brought the hugely successful Tinariwen to European attention. This angelic French tribe has been roving the world with its heterogeneous and eclectic musical luggage. Not a band, rather a collective of incorrigible globe-trotters, open to every experience and every encounter. Along a dozen of records, Lo’Jo’s gang, coming from the punk, the jazz, the rock, has explored as many musical lines as continents.

04、Lula Pena(葡萄牙)

Lula Pena, born and raised in Lisbon, is a cosmopolitan Portuguese: a woman of the wide world! Singer-poet, mysterious woman that hides behind the guitar to best surprise us. A unique, deep voice, inspired by multiple references, playing with borders and with the nest poets. Her first album, Phados, released in 1998, won her immediate acclaim. The deep, commanding yet sensitive voice; the natural blend of fado roots with colours of Portuguese folk music, French chanson, Cape Verdean morna, Brazilian bossa nova; the stripped-down delivery of voice and guitar; all heralded the arrival of a major new talent. She has a quasi-shamanic way of becoming one with her instrument when performing these long, rambling pieces, during which wood, string, words, human body, breath and voice all merge into a single, supernatural fabulous beast.

05、DuOud(法国)

DuOud consists of two oud players: Tunisian born Jean-Pierre Smadja (already noted for many albums released under the name ‘Smadj’), and Algerian born master oud player, Mehdi Haddab (known for his work with the acclaimed French-based trio, ‘Ekova’, and more recently ‘Speed Caravan’). Blending their North African heritage with the latest Western technology, the pair has created a musical cycle that pays homage to their African roots while absorbing and morphing contemporary music styles – break beats, jazz grooves, and metal guitar. DuOud is the first band to mix the North African lute with electronic technology, and does so with an imaginative freedom that sets them apart from their contemporaries. Their debut album, Wild Serenade saw them win the Best Newcomer award at the BBC Music Awards. Respectfully insolent with instrument traditions, alternating ‘classical’ Arab melodies and personal compositions, employing warm acoustic instruments and electronic saturation, DuOud has continued to surprise its fans fan with each new composition.

06、Yossi Fine & Ben Aylon(以色列)

Yossi Fine, Bass master producer, is one of the most well-known musicians and producers in the world today. Having produced over 40 albums worldwide, he has been nominated for a Grammy Award, and have 20 gold and multi-platinum-selling albums to his name. Fine has produced, recorded, and played with David Bowie, Lou Reed, Gil Evans Orchestra, Vieux Farka Toure, and many more. He plays bass and a special guitar he built himself, and plays traditional songs and hits from the “Blue Desert”. Ben Aylon is defined as a border-breaking drummer and percussionist, best known for his unique ‘neo-African drumming’ style and cutting-edge hybrid drumming techniques. Inspired by deep Senegalese Wolof drumming, Aylon creates explosive, burning rhythms through the sound of an entire tribe of drummers, using African and modern drums. Aylon has recorded and played with Bombino, Doudou Ndiaye Rose, Awadi, Khaira Arby, and many more. From 2017 to 2018, the band performed abroad and in Israel, delivering more than 150 performances at festivals and clubs.

07、Sturle Dagsland(挪威)

Composed of two brothers, Sturle Dagsland and Sjur Dagsland, Sturle Dagsland is a young and energetic band, and highly respected in Norway. The brothers are experts at playing a variety of musical instruments and electronic devices, combining a variety of styles that include trance, experimental, folk, and electronic genres. Their unique approach to using electronic and acoustic sounds, alongside their powerful stage presence, creates a singular atmosphere that provides plenty of room for improvisation. Sturle Dagsland's music is inspired by the Sami, nomadic ethnic people who live in Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Northern Russia. They are best known for grazing reindeer, coastal fishing, shamanism and mysticism, and joiking (Sami singing style). Owing to Sturle Dagsland's distinctive voice, wide vocal range, multilingual lyrics, and a unique way of composing music, the band was honored with the title ‘emerging artist’ in Copenhagen.

08、Nelida Karr Ensemble (赤道几内亚)

Born and raised in the capital of Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, Nelida Karr is considered the "contemporary revelation of the Equatorial Guinean music" and has become the voice of the new generation of Equatorial Guinean musicians that creates a great cultural and international impact in the current music Equatorial Guinean. This soulful singer, songwriter, producer and multi- instrumentalist and winner of numerous awards, he has conquered and enriched the stage of world music with his undeniable talent and exciting eclectic musical tune between its traditional roots and world music. She has produced a unique sound which has mixed of the music of the Bubi ethnic group and Equatorial Guinean rhythms such as Katya, Kotto, bonko, mokom and antonobe, as well as jazz, blues, Spanish and Latin music. Acquainted with ancient instruments, cultures from around the world, as well as modern musical techniques, she combines all of these elements to create a musical path that is unique to her. Alcaide is well- versed in more than a dozen medieval instruments, the most representative of which is the nyckelharpa, with which she carries all the way. With a commitment to adapting traditional instruments to modern music, she is regarded as the first person who is an expert at European Nyckelharpa. With her medieval violin and striking voice, she has performed more than 500 concerts across four continents, immersing audiences in the wonderland of medieval landscapes. His curiosity for ancient string instruments leads him to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music where he learns the Chinese fidlle, the Erhu. He has awarded many awards including “Public’s Choice Award” at Vitrine des Musiques Locales Métissées de Montréal 2016”, “Stingray Rising Stars Award” at the RIDEAU 2015 conference”, “Entrées en Scène Loto-Québec” and the “RIDEAU/ROSEQ Award”, at the ROSEQ 2014 conference.
