The 2009 Shanghai World Music Festival was held at the Oriental Art Center and the Century Park fom April 30 to May 30, jointly hosted by the Shanghai World Expo 世博会事务协调局, 上海对外文化交流协会 and 浦东新区文广局. This was an important part of series of musical events in celebration of the one year countdown for the grand opening of the World Expo 2010.

2011

Gong Linna and other artists from China will perform during live concerts and gigs across Shanghai as part of The 2011 World Music Shanghai festival, which runs May 21 to 25, 2011. In its fourth year, this is the first time the festival will be featuring two days of outdoor concerts — seven bands will perform on the open stage at Zhongshan Park, from 2pm to 10 pm on May 21 and 22.

“Songs for the World Expo –2008 Shanghai World Music Festival”was focused on bringing together music from various cultural backgrounds, of different styles and expressions within the short period of a week. This year the Shanghai World Music Festival 2009 has the main theme of “fusion”. The key part is three concerts to be staged at the Oriental Art Center, which combine folk music from various places of the world with modern music.

2008

World Music Shanghai 2008 is hosted by Bureau of Shanghai Expo Coordination, as a prelude of the World Music project of Expo 2010. In the course of Expo 2010, World Music musicians from all corner of the world will be invited to present a grand World Music festival in Shanghai, in order to enhance the mutual understanding and communication of different culture..
