| World Music Shanghai 2009 was held at the Oriental Art Center and the Century Park
from April 30 to May 5, organized by Shanghai Bureau of the Shanghai World Expo Coordination,
Shanghai International Culture Association, Culture Bureau of Pudong New Area, as an important
part of series of musical events in celebration of the one year countdown for the grand opening
of the World Expo 2010. “Songs for the World Expo –2009 Shanghai World Music Festival”
had the main theme of “fusion” gathering 11 top world music groups from home and abroad.
The key part was three concerts to be staged at the Oriental Art Centre, which combined folk
music from various parts of the world with modern music; Two concerts to be presented at the
Century Park showcased world music in its original form, bringing out
its authentic flavours and charms. |
